No approval for classes, excess students: Rakhial school confronts: The wider industry impact

Ahmedabad: Serious irregularities have been detected at Al Falah Islamic School in Rakhial, where Classes VI to VIII were allegedly being conducted without govt approval, while enrolment from Classes I to V exceeded the sanctioned capacity sixfold.

After a preliminary inquiry, the school was fined Rs 10,000 and asked to explain the alleged violations. A special committee formed under the Right to Education (RTE) framework submitted its detailed inquiry report on Oct 15. The school received approval in 2018 to operate only one section each for Classes I to V, with a sanctioned capacity of 200 students across the five classes, according to the report. Investigators found that approximately 1,252 students were enrolled in these classes.

His daughter, who had studied at Al Falah Islamic School, was issued a leaving certificate by RA Primary School, according to documents submitted by the complainant. DEO, Ahmedabad City (East), has recommended permanent cancellation of the school’s recognition and sought permission to file a police complaint against its management. The case came to light after a complaint was filed on the chief minister’s portal. The school was also found conducting Classes VI to VIII without approval. The management reportedly described these as academic classes. Investigators tracking student records through the CTS portal also found that the students were listed under the UDISE number of Cherry Blossom English School, which had already shut down.
