Gandhinagar: Gujarat govt on Wednesday disbursed Rs 1,100 crore in incentives to 14,853 industrial units through a single-click transfer, while announcing the removal of the mandatory bank-loan condition for MSMEs to qualify for financial assistance.

Govt has also reduced the paperwork by doing away with 16 documents to speed up the disbursement process. An official statement said Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) allotted 407 plots spread across 85 acres through an online draw for MSMEs at Shekhpat, Khirsara-2 and Sanand-2 industrial estates. The draw was held for 4,665 applications for plots measuring less than 3,000 square metres. Sanghavi said the new industrial policy had attracted more than 346 applications from large industries, including 27 companies returning to Gujarat from other states.

Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi said the policy change would enable entrepreneurs investing their own capital to avail of incentives. File disposal rates have tripled over the past six months, he said. He added that govt is also focusing on first-generation entrepreneurs, women-led startups and employment generation, particularly in tribal areas. Plans for smart GIDC estates will prioritise drainage, streetlights and utility lines alongside roads, he added.
