Children’s Research University, Gandhinagar

Ahmedabad: The Children’s Research University, established to experiment with innovative approaches to children’s education in Gujarat, has been without an in charge registrar for more than 17 days, raising concerns over its administrative functioning.

Sources said he refused to sign the files, following which the university authorities removed him from the registrar’s charge and locked his chamber. The matter reportedly escalated after additional bills were sent to Gupta for approval. The registrar is a key administrative functionary in a govt university, overseeing official documentation, correspondence and several day-to-day procedures. The development has also revived concerns among educationists about the university’s direction. The institution was set up with the stated aim of developing and testing innovative methods in children’s education, but has faced several controversies in recent years. Educationists fear that repeated administrative disputes could divert attention from its original objectives.
