Gandhinagar : The state govt said on Tuesday that Gujarat has emerged as the leading state in the country by recording more than 2.4 crore nutrition-related activities during Poshan Maah 2026.
The govt said the focus this year has been on strengthening anganwadis as centres of nutrition and early childhood development.
The govt said on Tuesday that as of Sept 27, more than 2.4 crore activities had been recorded across the state under the campaign being held with the theme ‘Aapni Anganwadi, Aapni Jawabdari’. Of these, 56.1 lakh activities were conducted by the women and child development department, while around 1.9 crore activities were carried out by allied departments. The campaign is also focusing on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life and the first six years, with emphasis on early childhood care and education, early stimulation and responsive caregiving.

At the district level, Mahisagar, Valsad, Patan, Anand and Mehsana recorded the highest number of activities. In Valsad, the collector also flagged off a large nutrition awareness rally. The campaign has laid particular emphasis on dietary diversity, protein-rich food and promotion of locally available nutritious foods. Regular measurement of children’s weight and height, registration on the Poshan Tracker and early identification of malnourished children are being undertaken. Download the TOI App.
