Bengaluru: A fake murder alert sent a 108 ambulance crew racing to Amruthanagar, north Bengaluru, only to leave them facing an unexpected ordeal. Nurse Lakshmi Devi, 39, attached to Bharathinagar segment, said she was on night duty with ambulance driver Yogesh Kumar on Aug 19. At 10.22pm, the 108 ambulance got a call from helpline 112 informing them that a caller (mobile number 73533-50539) had reported a murder in B Sector, Amruthnagar, Byatarayanapura. The nurse and driver rushed to the location at 10.40pm but didn’t find anything. The nurse got the caller’s number from 108 control room and contacted him to find out why he had provided false information.
After finding no trace of any murder, the nurse and driver contacted the caller, who is said to have launched into a barrage of abuse and kept disturbing them for nearly two hours. Police later confirmed it was a hoax call.
