Indushekhar, the prime accused
Bengaluru: A police probe revealed the seeds of bitterness between Indushekhar and wife Sunitha were sown following his arrest in a chain-snatching case in 2018.
A senior police officer said Sunitha was upset over the incident and gradually cut off communication with her husband. This further widened the rift between him and his wife’s family,” the officer said. Sunitha reportedly distanced herself after he was arrested for allegedly stealing a woman’s gold chain in Madanayakanahalli near Nelamangala. “Sunitha almost stopped speaking to Indushekhar. She did not help him secure bail or assist him with legal proceedings. Her brothers, too, refused to interact with him or support him financially.
Investigators also learnt that Sunitha allegedly humiliated Indushekhar repeatedly by questioning his “manliness” and openly ridiculing him in front of her family members. On several occasions, she reportedly vented her anger before her mother, even in the presence of her brothers and their spouses, leaving him embarrassed. Police suspect such repeated humiliation, financial dependence and estrangement from his wife’s family may have deepened Indushekhar’s resentment over the years.
