IPL screening at Bengaluru
Bengaluru: In the backdrop of last year’s tragedy in which 11 persons were killed outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium while celebrating Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s IPL victory, city police have strictly prohibited activities that lead to crowding at public places or cause problems to commuters on roads during Sunday’s IPL final match. “After the final match result is announced, the public should not engage in any kind of celebrations in public places. Home team RCB has already reached the final, which will be held in Ahmedabad. City police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, in a press release, stated showing the match live on LED screens at public places is strictly prohibited. LED walls facing roads should not be put up without prior permission from the concerned authorities and the match should not be telecast on existing LED walls. Screens must not be installed outside malls, pubs, or other places in a manner visible to the public for viewing the final match,” the release stated. Instructions and guidance issued by the traffic police must be strictly followed.
