Mescom managing director Nongjai Mohd Ali Akram Shah said, “Exercising extra caution is essential to prevent electrical accidents. Mescom is prepared to temporarily suspend power supply along such routes to facilitate a smooth immersion procession,” he said. Mescom authorities stated that people should not draw unauthorised power directly from power lines. Permission must be obtained from the respective Mescom sub-divisional or branch office. “Ensure there are no overhead power lines near the site selected for installing idols. Do not erect pandals or shamiyanas directly under or adjacent to power lines; maintain a safe distance. Do not tie banners, posters, or signboards to electricity poles or transformers,” Mescom urged. “Necessary precautions must be taken on the day of idol immersion processions. Extremely tall flags or decorative structures that could come into contact with electricity wires must not be mounted on procession vehicles. If power lines pose an obstruction along the routes planned for idol immersion processions, it should be brought to the attention of the concerned Mescom office. Download the TOI App.
