How feud over senior girl turned fatal for 19-year-old — BCom: The wider industry impact

BENGALURU: A feud between two college classmates over a senior girl turned fatal in Nagarabhavi on Wednesday, leaving a 19-year-old BCom student dead. After learning about the remarks, an enraged Bhuvan and a juvenile allegedly assembled a group of youths from Laggere and called Yogesh to meet behind the college campus around 2.15pm. Police arrested four people, including Manoj, 19. Three of those arrested are 17-year-old juveniles and were sent to the state juvenile home, while Manoj was taken into police custody.

One of the juveniles allegedly pulled out a knife, which police said had been purchased online, and stabbed Yogesh in the chest, a senior officer said. Bhuvan, identified as the key accused, remains absconding, police said. The deceased, Yogesh, a resident of Nagadevanahalli, was a first-year BCom student at a private college in Nagarabhavi. Bhuvan, his classmate, had reportedly been persistently pursuing a senior girl student from the same college. Tension escalated after Yogesh allegedly made disparaging remarks about the girl recently. Yogesh reached the spot with a classmate, where Bhuvan and his associates confronted him over the comments. The confrontation soon turned violent. Yogesh’s classmate and another friend rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead. The assailants fled immediately after the attack.
