Participating in a roadshow hosted by ministry of new and renewable energy in Bengaluru on Tuesday, ahead of Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 in New Delhi, Karnataka energy minister KJ George said the state was ready to partner with investors, innovators and industry leaders looking to participate in its clean-energy transition. Stating that Karnataka is already a pioneering state in the renewable-energy sector, with more than 8.5 GW of installed wind power capacity and a strong record of innovation, the minister said, “Karnataka is happy to be chosen to host the roadshow for the Bharat RE Summit & Expo 2026. India has entered a decisive energy transition, where industrial development and energy security must go hand in hand with a cleaner and greener future. ” Referring to India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030, George said Karnataka was committed to contributing to the national clean-energy push. Explaining that Karnataka’s renewable-energy capacity had grown from around 26 GW to more than 40 GW, with the state adding around 4-5 GW annually in the sector, Gaurav Gupta, IAS, additional chief secretary, energy department, said, “Bengaluru’s strength as an innovation-led manufacturing hub has helped Karnataka emerge as one of the country’s leading renewable-energy states.
“The Pavagada Solar Park is a key example of the state’s approach to combining clean-energy generation with local economic opportunities and a globally recognised model of large-scale renewable-energy development,” George said, while crediting chief minister DK Shivakumar’s vision and support for the project. Extending an invitation to investors to explore opportunities in Karnataka’s green-energy sector, the minister said, “Karnataka continues to be a major innovator and investment destination, with opportunities across solar-wind hybrid projects, rooftop solar, electric mobility, renewable-energy manufacturing and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System). Bengaluru: Karnataka is betting big on green power to drive its next investment cycle, with the state inviting global players to tap opportunities across renewable energy, storage, electric mobility and manufacturing. Our partnership with MNRE has enabled innovative models such as PM-KUSUM Components B and C, bringing clean-energy solutions closer to farmers. ”
