Aug recorded the largest number of mega deals (valuing $100 mn and above) during a single month this year, data released by research firm Venture Intelligence on Tuesday showed. the eight mega deals alone accounted for around 72% ($2.4 billion) of the total 99 deals While the entire month had a cumulative investment of $3.3 bn. It was led by Alpha Alternatives deal valued at approximately Rs 7,500 crore. So far, a total number of 874 PE-VC deals have been registered in the current year (CY2026).
Arun Natarajan, founder, Venture Intelligence, told TOI , “PE-VC investment figures in Aug benefited a flurry of large ticket deals in the infrastructure, manufacturing, healthcare and financial sectors. Nidhi Killawala, partner at Khaitan & Co, said that from where we sit on live transactions, sentiment is noticeably more constructive than it was a few months ago. With the IPO and public markets demonstrating resilience, investors – both foreign and home grown – are continuing to make confident bets. “Looking ahead, India remains a priority market with substantial dry powder waiting to be deployed. I would expect deal activity to stay healthy through the rest of the year, but the recovery is likely to remain selective and frankly, that reflects a more mature market rather than a problem,” she added.
