Chennai: FICCI has named Vijay Sankar, chairman of Chennai-based Sanmar Group, as its president-elect for 2026-27. He will succeed Anant Goenka as president of the industry body after its annual general meeting on November 18-19 in New Delhi. Sankar, currently senior vice-president of FICCI, heads the Sanmar Group, a global industrial conglomerate with interests in chemicals, speciality chemicals, engineering, steel foundries and shipping. He is an independent director on the boards of TVS Motor Company and Larsen & Toubro, and chairman of Chemplast Sanmar Ltd. Sankar is also the honorary consul general of Denmark in Chennai. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and is a chartered accountant. Download the TOI App.
