CHENNAI: DMK leader M K Stalin on Monday condemned the arrest of former school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi in connection with an alleged Rs 100-crore private school approvals scam. He called the arrest politically motivated.

The govt was trying to divert public attention from the deteriorating law and order situation and administrative failures by arresting Anbil Mahesh, who had been cooperating fully with the investigation into the allegations against him, Stalin said in his X post. Mahesh would face the charges against him through legal means, the former CM said, adding that the TVK govt’s attempt to deflect public anger through such arrests would not succeed.
