More than 250 undergraduate students from Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet districts participated in the Youth Astronomy and Space Science Congress 2026, held at Don Bosco College of Arts and Science on Saturday.
Chennai: More than 250 undergraduate students from Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet districts participated in the Youth Astronomy and Space Science Congress 2026, held at Don Bosco College of Arts and Science on Saturday. A total of 125 teams participated, and 41 were selected from the regional-level conference for the state-level conference, to be held in the third week of November. Initiated by the Tamil Nadu Astronomy & Science Society, the congress was held for the second consecutive time. Students participated in research paper presentations, astronomy-based quizzes, short films and photography. Former director of ISRO Mylswamy Annadurai, Aditya-L1 project director Nigar Shaji and defence scientist Dilli Babu participated. The event aimed to inspire students to participate in astronomy and space science. The event was held under the theme “New Space Era – Connecting Science, Technology, and Society.
