New Delhi: A 17-year-old Class XII student was stabbed to death and another beaten up by a group of unidentified persons outside a govt school in west Delhi ’s Mohan Garden Wednesday evening, shortly after school hours. Police detained two suspects and are investigating the circumstances leading to the attack.
Police sources said the incident took place around 6.30pm, when the two students were leaving the school premises. The incident was reported at 6.35pm, soon after classes had ended. In Jan last year, a fight over a game of ‘pithu’ (seven stones) between two schoolmates escalated when a 14-year-old boy was stabbed to death by a group, which included his classmate, outside a govt school in east Delhi’s Shakarpur.
The incident may have stemmed from a dispute between one of the students and a suspected attacker, according to police sources. He was the victim’s friend and was also present at the time of the quarrel,” a source said. The duo was allegedly confronted and assaulted by a group of people, following which one of the students was stabbed twice, including in the neck. The attackers fled the spot after the assault. Police suspect that some of the people involved in the attack may be students of the same school. The identities of the suspects and the reason behind the attack are being verified. “The student had a quarrel with one of the suspects over a petty issue. Police are questioning the detained suspects to ascertain if others may have been involved. Police teams reached the spot and initiated an inquiry.
