A 22-year-old man died after being stabbed seventeen times in east Delhi’s Mandawali area.

NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old man was stabbed 17 times and killed after an altercation with two men near a school in east Delhi’s Mandawali on Thursday evening, with police suspecting that the accused believed the victim was having an affair with his sister. A PCR call about the stabbing was received at 7:54pm, following which police reached near Gyan Vatika School and rushed the injured man, identified as Vansh Dedha, to Max Hospital. Doctors found 17 stab injuries on his body. Preliminary inquiry revealed that Dedha had an altercation with Keshav Kumar, 22, a resident of Karawal Nagar, and his associate.

He was declared brought dead. Police suspect Kumar attacked Dedha after believing that he was having an affair with his sister. Kumar and his associate allegedly chased Dedha and repeatedly stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon near the school before fleeing the spot. A murder case was registered at Mandawali police station and Kumar was arrested during the investigation. Police have also identified the second accused and are conducting raids to apprehend him. The knife allegedly used in the murder and the clothes worn during the incident have been recovered, while the motorcycle allegedly used by the accused has also been taken into police possession.

CCTV footage from the area and technical surveillance are being examined to establish the sequence of events. Further investigation is underway.
