Police have arrested three people in connection with the incident and launched an investigation. New Delhi: A man died after he was allegedly assaulted by a crowd on suspicion of theft in outer Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy. Two of his associates were also injured in the alleged assault.
Police said they received information about the incident around 7 am Tuesday and rushed to the spot. Preliminary investigation revealed that Hasan Mangal, a history-sheeter of Narela Industrial Area police station, had allegedly reached a grocery shop in Jain Colony along with three associates and committed theft.
Police said two other men later reached the spot to help Mangal leave, but they too were allegedly assaulted by the crowd. Mangal was allegedly caught by local residents and beaten While the group was attempting to flee. Mangal was found unconscious and taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The two injured men are undergoing treatment.
