New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta Saturday extended Diwali greetings to the people of Delhi, urge them to celebrate in an eco-friendly way and make environmental protection a shared responsibility.
“Providing clean air is the govt’s responsibility, and citizen participation is equally important within it,” CM said. She urged people to use green firecrackers in accordance with prescribed standards and to enhance the joy of the festival through traditional illumination of diyas, rangoli, sweets, and mutual harmony.
On the govt’s efforts to improve air quality and promote sustainable transport, Gupta said three new Metro corridors spanning 16 km have been approved. The Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 is also aimed at encouraging clean and zero-emission transport. CM also said the govt had crossed its target of planting 70 lakh saplings this year.
