The CJP is also planning a peaceful protest march in Delhi on September 5, but Delhi Police said no permission had been sought for the proposed event so far. The 2.5-km march is scheduled to begin at India Gate and end at the Delhi Police Headquarters on Jai Singh Road. Security and traffic preparations have already begun ahead of the September 5 protest.
Delhi Police sources said that if a formal request is received, it will be examined based on prevailing security and law-and-order considerations. Police sources said the force was not taking a lenient approach this time, unlike during the previous agitation. The group alleged that instead of implementing the promises, the Union government had “delayed action, hidden behind technicalities and avoided giving clear commitments, even before the Supreme Court of India”.
Families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide, victims of alleged police excesses, students and youth organisations are expected to join the march. Authorities are assessing the possible crowd size, movement of protesters and security requirements in advance. Police are also monitoring inputs about the organisers and likely participation. Additional force, including paramilitary personnel, could be deployed if required.
