New Delhi: Several schools and colleges in Delhi have revised their schedules for Oct 10, shifting classes online, postponing examinations and rescheduling parent-teacher meetings amid security concerns and anticipated Metro disruptions due to a protest at Jantar Mantar.
Similarly, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology in Rohini has deferred its Saturday mid-term examinations to Oct 12 after receiving a communication from Delhi Police regarding expected Metro restrictions. The school also suspended its Friday stay-back facility and postponed the inauguration of Activity Week, which was scheduled for Saturday. At Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya on Kasturba Gandhi Marg, sports day practice and enrichment classes for Classes IX to XII slated for Saturday have been cancelled. Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School in central Delhi has postponed its parent-teacher meeting, during which report cards were to be discussed. Colleges have also altered examination schedules. Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering in Paschim Vihar has rescheduled Saturday’s mid-term examinations to Monday, citing anticipated closure of entry and exit gates at several Metro stations and possible disruptions in services. Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate has informed parents that Classes VI to XII will be conducted online on Saturday in view of extensive barricading in the New Delhi area and concerns over students’ safety.
