Cops recovered 683 kg of the crackers, along with a car and a two-wheeler, police said Thursday. New Delhi: Three men were arrested in Rohini for allegedly storing and transporting prohibited firecrackers.
The accused were identified as Ravi , 35, a resident of Vijay Vihar Phase-II; Ram Kumar , 47, of Avantika, Sector 1; and Chand , 49, also of Avantika, Sector 1, police said. An FIR was registered at Budh Vihar police station under Sections 223(B) (disobedience of an order by a public servant), 228 (fabricating false evidence) and 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 9(B) of the Explosives Act, which deals with contravention of rules or licence conditions relating to explosives.
DCP Rohini Shashank Jaiswal said the district’s special staff acted on a tip-off about the illegal storage and transportation of banned firecrackers. A police team subsequently raided a godown, where the three men were allegedly found loading the firecrackers into a Santro and a scooty. Police are now probing the source of the firecrackers and attempting to identify others involved in their storage, supply and transportation.
Further investigation is underway.
