New Delhi: A court Wednesday directed Delhi Police to file an action-taken report on a plea seeking an FIR against a student-activist who took part in Cockroach Janta Party’s protest at Jantar Mantar and her father for allegedly posting objectionable content referring to Hindu deities.
Chief judicial magistrate Mridul Gupta passed the order on advocate Amita Sachdeva’s plea and listed the matter for Jan 2027. Sachdeva has moved court after allegedly receiving no communication from police on her complaint filed on Sept 5. The plea seeks action under sections 196 (promoting enmity), 299 (outraging religious feelings) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. It cites four social media posts dating from 2023 to Aug 2026, including one allegedly describing Hindu gods as imaginary, another allegedly calling for Hindu religious texts to be blown up, and posts claimed to be using derogatory language about deities.

The posts remained publicly accessible and had outraged her religious feelings and those of other Hindus, the petitioner alleged. The accused were recently in the news after self-proclaimed influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj claimed in a video that he had assaulted the father during the CJP protests.
