New Delhi: Delhi Police ’s Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit traced a potential cyber-fraud victim through a money trail and extended immediate assistance to a distressed senior citizen living alone in west Delhi’s Janakpuri, Monday.

Police said an e-FIR and steps to trace and put the defrauded money on hold were initiated. During the money trail analysis, police found a mule account in the name of a private company. Police are trying to freeze the cheated amount.
The team contacted the account holder, who was found to be in a highly distressed condition. IFSO immediately coordinated with the area SHO, following which, the beat constable visited her residence. Family members were also contacted.
DCP (IFSO) Anyesh Roy said, “The intervention followed an investigation into a digital arrest fraud of Rs 67.30 lakh reported on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal on Sept 20.
“Such incidents should immediately be reported on 1930 or the portal.” Digital arrest has no legal basis,” and advised people not to transfer money on such calls.
