New Delhi: The interrogation of Deepak , who was arrested for allegedly harbouring the two shooters accused of killing 30-year-old gym trainer Vijay Lohia in south Delhi’s Aya Nagar last month, has revealed that he had rented out a room in his house to them to avoid suspicion.
The incident took place around 10am on Sept 14 near Hansa Chowk. An attempted murder case was subsequently registered against a 24-year-old businessman, Arun Lohia, who was the prime suspect. The dispute escalated in May 2025, when Deepak and his associates allegedly opened fire on an SUV near Chhatarpur metro station, killing Arun while he was returning home with his father. Arun’s father later claimed that 20-25 rounds were fired during the attack. On Nov 30, Deepak’s father, Ratan Lohiya, a dairy businessman, was shot dead near his home while he was on his way to his dairy in Aya Nagar. The family alleged nearly 70 rounds were fired at him.
The two suspects stayed at Deepak’s house while allegedly conducting a recce of Vijay’s daily routine, according to police. “Deepak kept them as tenants so that no one would suspect why outsiders were staying at his house,” police said. Vijay’s uncle, Narender, said the family suspects that the same gang rivalry led to Vijay’s killing, even though he had no connection with the dispute. Vijay’s brother Chaman said he had quit his job out of fear. There is also police deployment outside the houses of Deepak and the businessman,” he said.
After confirming Vijay’s movements, the shooters allegedly opened fire at him outside his gym. So far, one person, i.e., Deepak, has been arrested in the case. Police are still looking to nab the shooters. Police suspect the killing is linked to a gang rivalry that has now claimed three lives. Following Vijay’s murder, security in the village was stepped up, with policemen deployed outside three houses to prevent any further escalation. Police are probing whether the dispute had originated over garbage-collection business and the collection of money for dumping waste at a plot. Police arrested three people, including Deepak and Ajay, in connection with the case. Police arrested a known associate of the businessman, along with others, in connection with the case. “We have been provided security, but the policeman leaves in the evening.
