New Delhi: Delhi Police has busted an alleged drug syndicate operating across Delhi-NCR and arrested eight people, seizing 1.3 kg of smack and Rs 3.7 crore in cash suspected to be proceeds of the narcotics trade.
The crackdown stemmed from an NDPS Act case registered at Okhla Industrial Area police station on April 27. Investigators first arrested two alleged peddlers, Abdullah (22) and Karan (18), with 11.1 grams and 13.5 grams of smack, respectively. Police said Kiran’s questioning led them to two distributors, Neeraj alias Thapa (35) and Ashok alias Ramu (44), from whom 16 grams of smack was recovered. Investigators subsequently arrested Maniya along with her alleged associates, Vicky and Guddu, recovering 32 grams of smack.
Police said the cash is suspected to be proceeds of narcotics trafficking and a financial investigation is under way. During interrogation, the duo allegedly identified Kiran alias Ram Prashad as their supplier. Kiran, who had gone underground, was later arrested through a production warrant after being held by Govindpuri police in another case. The two allegedly disclosed that after Kiran’s arrest, they had shifted their procurement source to Maniya alias Suman Pathak. Further probe led police to Faridabad , where Maniya allegedly sourced narcotics from Sunit alias Nannhe. Investigators are also tracing the syndicate’s wider supply and distribution network.
