New Delhi: Delhi Police will deploy 2,500-3,000 personnel for the Congress rally at Ramlila Maidan on Nov 1. Additionally, 10 companies of forces from outside Delhi would be on the ground.
The venue and surrounding areas will be divided into 14 security zones. Around 450 CCTV cameras will be installed, and 1,000 police personnel will wear body cameras, officers said. The 450 CCTV cameras will cover strategic points at the venue and its surroundings, including entry and exit routes.
Each will be headed by an additional deputy commissioner of police. Police teams will manage the crowd, keep a watch on sensitive points and respond to any law-and-order situation. The body cameras will help police monitor developments on the ground. The footage could also assist in reviewing incidents, if any, during the rally. Police are also expected to coordinate with traffic personnel to regulate the movement of vehicles around Ramlila Maidan. Police have already conveyed their no-objection to the Congress for the rally from 10am to 5pm, subject to prior permission from the land-owning authority and compliance with specified conditions. These include installing adequate surveillance equipment, arranging for facilities for participants, ensuring that speeches do not disturb public harmony and preventing any march outside the venue.
