The maximum temperature was 34.9 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal, against 33.8 degrees a day earlier. After rain in parts of Delhi, the feels-like temperature dipped to 36.6 degrees Celsius at 5.30pm. The ridge observatory in north Delhi logged 10.8mm of rainfall between 8.30am and 5.30pm, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD). Aya Nagar in southwest Delhi received 0.2mm of rainfall. In Aug so far, Safdarjung has logged 354.1mm of rainfall as opposed to the entire month’s normal of 233.1mm.

However, due to high humidity, the heat index, or feels-like temperature, stood at 42 degrees Celsius at 11.30am and rose to 46.5 at 2.30pm. However, Safdarjung, the city’s base station, did not record any rain during the same period.

The maximum temperature is predicted to remain 34-36 degrees Celsius Friday and hover between 35 and 37 degrees in the remaining days of Aug. The minimum temperature was 27.2 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. It is likely to stay between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius over the next few days.

As rain is likely to stop, the day temperature is expected to rise.
