New Delhi: Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has issued show-cause notices to agencies executing govt and private infrastructure projects after inspections revealed failures to follow mandatory dust control measures.
The ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ initiative has been implemented in mission mode since Oct 1.
The inspections covered projects associated with Delhi Jal Board (DJB), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), as part of Delhi govt’s efforts to curb pollution, said CMO. NBCC’s GPRA project sites in Sarojini Nagar and Netaji Nagar, where SAM India Private Limited is involved, were also inspected, said CMO. Chief minister Rekha Gupta said govt was closely monitoring pollution control measures and that no agency would be exempt from action for violations, irrespective of whether a project was being executed by a govt department or a private company. She said projects complying with environmental rules could continue without hindrance.
The inspections are part of govt’s Winter Pollution Action Plan, which focuses on preventive measures against major pollution sources. The plan also covers vehicular emissions, road and construction dust, industrial pollution, waste and organic residue burning, traffic and identified pollution hotspots.
