New Delhi: Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) has removed its Ambedkar Campus director, Dr Ghanshyam, from his post following reports of a police and women’s commission raid in Gurgaon, where alleged illegal sexual activities were taking place.
Gurgaon Police confirmed that Ghanshyam was among those found on the Sector 38 premises. Gurgaon Police said the raid at Sector 38 followed the questioning of a woman, who was rescued from a spa during a six-hour operation a day before at Sapphire Mall in Sector 90. In all, eight women and 13 men, including foreigners, were taken for questioning after the Sector 38 raid. Police are investigating their alleged role and links with a network involving 10-12 people.
Taking cognisance of the media reports and videos, the university discharged Ghanshyam from his responsibilities with immediate effect Monday evening, DSEU director Ashok Nagawat told TOI . The university could not contact Ghanshyam, he said. In the office order issued Monday, the university said Dr Sampurnananda Mishra, its Mayur Vihar Campus director, had been given the additional charge of Ambedkar Campus until further orders. The university has not received any communication from police or any other authority, the DSEU director said. We have recommended his suspension, but that decision has to be taken by govt,” Nagawat said, adding that Ghanshyam, who is working on a contract, did not report for duty Tuesday. The couple who ran the PG accommodation has been arrested, police said. A case is also being registered under Foreigners Act, police said.
Videos purportedly from the raid at a paying guest accommodation show several men and women, including Ghanshyam, being made to sit on the floor in what appears to be a punishment posture. “Besides being a campus director, Ghanshyam was also serving as a faculty member. We have issued an order, and the file has been sent to govt. An FIR has been registered at Sadar police station under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act against them.
