New Delhi: For a moment, a routine MCD cleanliness drive near Kali Mata Mandir on DDU Marg appeared to have unearthed something straight out of a crime thriller—a wooden box containing what looked like an assembled human skeleton.
Police said the school’s principal informed them that the institution had shifted to a new building in 2023 and old articles from the previous premises were disposed of as scrap during a cleanliness drive in July this year.
Police said the structure was likely an educational model used for teaching purposes, possibly in a school laboratory. Police were alerted Saturday after the suspected bones were found among scrap material. A team reached the spot and found the skeletal structure inside the box. However, there were no bloodstains or other suspicious materials in the vicinity. The mystery soon began to unravel. During the preliminary inquiry, police learnt that the material had been purchased as scrap from Govt Boys Senior Secondary School on Mata Sundari Road along with other discarded items. With no evidence of human remains or any criminal activity, investigators ruled out a criminal angle in the case.
