New Delhi: Four Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended by police for allegedly overstaying in India in violation of their visa conditions during a verification drive at hotels and guest houses in Central Delhi.
They were identified as Joherul Islam (41), Kazi Mohammad Nayeemur Rahman (25), Mohammad Muhit Uddin (34) and Mahim (21). All four had entered India on double-entry visas that allowed them to stay for a maximum of 15 days per visit. Joherul arrived in India on July 7, while Kazi and Mahim entered on June 10 and Muhit Uddin on June 22, according to police.
However, scrutiny of their documents revealed that they had overstayed the permitted period. After the visa violations were confirmed, the four were produced before Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Police said their passports, visas and other travel documents were checked during the verification. The four were found staying at two hotels in the Nabi Karim area. FRRO issued restriction orders directing their placement at the detention centre at Sewa Dham, Shahzada Bagh, Sarai Rohilla. The deportation proceedings have been initiated against them as per law.
