Four new FOBs with lifts planned at busy Delhi roads

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: Pedestrians crossing the busy Shaheed Jeet Singh Marg at Katwaria Sarai are set to get a safer and more accessible option, with Public Works Department (PWD) planning a new foot overbridge (FOB) equipped with both a staircase and lift.

The inclusion of a passenger lift with a regenerative drive is a key feature of the project, aimed at making the crossing accessible to people with disabilities, senior citizens and others who may find stairs difficult to use. The lift will have voice announcements indicating the floor position, a handrail, barrier-free access and vision panels on lift doors to help people with hearing impairment seek assistance. Emergency messaging or alarm systems have also been provided.

PWD is also planning the construction of FOBs at Shahbad Dairy on Badli Bawana Road, near A 2 Block Jeevan Park Bus Stand and near Mata Chanan Devi Hospital on Pankha Road in Janakpuri .
