Faridabad and Gurgaon could see thunderstorms and lightning as the wider Haryana-Delhi region remains under a heavy-rain warning. The state government has put district administrations on alert amid the forecast. District magistrates have been directed to maintain vigilance and monitor arrangements in areas facing the possibility of flash floods. Schools have been kept closed in districts under a red alert and facing the possibility of flash floods. The rainfall could increase the risk of landslides and road blockages in mountainous areas, while rivers and streams could see rising water levels. Waterlogging is also possible in the plains. The state government has urged people to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel and regularly check weather updates. Jharkhand has been witnessing rainfall under the influence of the weather system moving across central and eastern India. Authorities have advised people to stay away from open fields, trees and electric poles during lightning activity and to exercise caution while travelling through waterlogged areas. Strong surface winds are also expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema during this period. A depression over interior Odisha and an active monsoon have brought very heavy rain to parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Darjeeling has witnessed landslides, while the IMD has forecast further rain in the district. Similar weather conditions are likely in Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri, with the Met department warning of possible landslides in Darjeeling and Kalimpong.
