Kejriwal with family to join Oct 10 protest seeking CEC’s resignation

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal will join a protest at Jantar Mantar on Oct 10 against alleged irregularities in the electoral rolls revision process and to demand the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

“No matter what the police or the BJP-led central govt does, we will not stop, the people of the country will not stop and Gyanesh Kumar will have to resign,” said AAP MLA Jarnail Singh. Rather, they are a struggle by Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Stalin and others to preserve their own political relevance,” he said. Some AAP functionaries alleged that police might try to prevent party workers from reaching the protest venue by detaining them or placing them under house arrest. They claimed that party workers had been receiving calls from police asking about their plans to attend the protest, including details about who would accompany them and how they intended to reach Jantar Mantar. In response, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor called Kejriwal’s decision to join the protest a political ploy. “The activities of the Congress, AAP, the Communists and other parties in Delhi these days are not part of any fight to save democracy.

Kejriwal’s family members and several party functionaries will participate in the demonstration, according to AAP. The protest has been called by the Cockroach Janta Party and others.
