LUCKNOW: Lucknow Metro has extended the deadline for commuters to exchange existing GoSmart cards for National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) free of cost until Oct 16. More than 55,000 passengers have exchanged their GoSmart cards for NCMC cards so far, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) said in a press release on Friday. The card also offers a 10% discount on every journey on Lucknow Metro. New users can buy an NCMC at metro stations for a non-refundable issuance charge of Rs 100. The minimum top-up is Rs 100 and the maximum is Rs 2,000.

The facility, which was due to end on Oct 9, is available at all metro stations. UPMRC managing director Sushil Kumar said the extension would give remaining cardholders more time to make the switch. The NCMC, also known as “One Nation One Card”, can be used on Lucknow Metro and, subject to interoperability arrangements, on participating metro systems, buses, parking facilities and retail outlets. Existing cardholders must use up their remaining GoSmart balance before visiting a station. They can then surrender the card and collect an NCMC free of charge during the extended period. He urged passengers to use the facility and move to the unified mobility card. Cards can be recharged through station kiosks, ticket vending machines, the Airtel app and other compatible channels.
