No apparent injury marks were found on the body during a preliminary examination.
NNEW DELHI: The body of an unidentified teenager, aged to be between 15 and 17 years old, was found floating in a drain near Jagatpur Metro Station in Delhi’s Wazirabad area on Thursday, police said.
A team from Wazirabad police station, accompanied by forensic experts, subsequently reached the spot, according to news agency PTI. Divers from the Boat Club were called in and retrieved the body from the drain after considerable effort, police said. Investigators are examining whether the teenager was murdered and the body dumped in the drain, or whether the death was accidental and the teenager drowned while bathing, police said.
Passersby spotted the body and alerted the police. The body was taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Police have alerted nearby police stations to help identify the teenager.
