The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: Two people were injured after falling from a moving “mixer” ride at a fair in west Delhi’s Vikaspuri in the early hours of Tuesday. Preliminary investigations suggest that the ride’s gate may have broken while it was in operation.

The incident occurred around 1.30 am at Dussehra Ground in Vikaspuri. In Feb this year, a ride crashed at a fair in Surajkund, Faridabad, killing a police inspector involved in rescue efforts and injuring 12 people. Last year, a 24-year-old woman died after falling from a ride at an amusement park in Kapashera.

Police said the two injured people — Gudiya and Ravi , both residents of Uttam Nagar — were rushed to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital and later referred to RML Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. “The mixer ride was shut after the incident due to safety concerns,” a police officer said. A mobile crime team inspected the spot, and police registered an FIR under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway. The incident has once again raised concerns over safety standards at amusement rides.
