Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader A Jeevan Reddy alleged that the Congress govt, under chief minister A Revanth Reddy, has turned Telangana into a “police state”, using cases and investigations to harass opposition leaders and resorting to vindictive politics. Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, he claimed that the Congress govt had reached the “peak of political vendetta” against opposition parties. He alleged that repeated incidents targeting BRS leaders and offices demonstrated that democratic governance had been replaced by ‘police rule’.
Jeevan Reddy claimed that notices had been issued to nearly 30,000 booth agents and alleged that the govt was intimidating political workers through legal action.
He also accused the Congress govt of pursuing “vindictive politics” in response to successful BRS protests across the state. He further alleged that KTR’s personal staff members, including his PRO and PA, were subjected to harassment while being questioned at Saifabad police station.
Warning against what he described as conspiracies against KCR’s family, the BRS leader said any such attempts could trigger widespread public unrest. He alleged that an “Indiramma emergency” was prevailing in Telangana and warned that political attacks by the govt would face strong resistance from the opposition. The BRS leader described Revanth Reddy as the “last Congress chief minister” of Telangana and alleged that the govt had failed to fulfil its electoral promises.
The former MLA accused the CM of encouraging attacks against BRS leaders. Referring to BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he alleged that attempts were being made to target the opposition leader and his family. Jeevan Reddy also cited alleged attacks on the camp offices of KCR, KTR and Harish Rao. He claimed that people were increasingly dissatisfied with the Congress administration and asserted that the BRS would return to power under KCR’s leadership.
