Hyderabad: Telangana govt will prepare a special list of tourism department properties, including those with existing buildings and vacant land, to identify assets that can be developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka said on Thursday.

He said tourism development should go beyond destinations and infrastructure to promote the Telangana brand globally while creating investment, employment and revenue opportunities. Reviewing the programmes of the tourism and culture departments with tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao at Praja Bhavan, Bhatti directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan to develop Telangana as a national and international tourist destination. Bhatti asked officials to expand private-sector participation alongside govt investment and identify tourism assets with revenue potential. He also directed them to review lease policies, financial viability and investor interest and address issues hindering private investment. He called for integrated development of temple, eco and hill tourism and the creation of special circuits to encourage tourists visiting Hyderabad to explore other parts of the state. Bhatti also directed officials to ensure govt support for the conservation and maintenance of heritage sites, including Ramappa, while exploring revenue-generating tourism projects. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the Telangana Darshini programme, under which students visit heritage sites, museums and tourist destinations. Download the TOI App.
