H yderabad: With mosquito-borne diseases remaining a public health concern during the monsoon , the GHMC has intensified entomological surveillance and field inspections to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sources across the city.

During a review meeting at the GHMC head office, the GHMC commissioner directed officials to step up measures to prevent and control vector-borne diseases. Experts from the department of entomology, Osmania University , provided technical inputs on mosquito control and scientific methods for identifying and eliminating breeding sites. Officials reviewed the prevailing public health situation and measures being taken to curb mosquito breeding. The meeting focused on strengthening entomological surveillance, identifying breeding sources and ensuring that preventive measures are effectively implemented at the field level. The Commissioner instructed all zonal commissioners and health officials to intensify field inspections, ensure timely action at identified breeding sites and create greater awareness among citizens about maintaining hygienic surroundings and preventing water stagnation.
