Hyderabad: Falaknuma police have solved the murder of AIMIM party’s 53-year-old local functionary, Md Mahboob Ali, and arrested seven offenders including a juvenile on Friday.
Police said the superstitious belief that the victim was doing black magic was the reason behind the murder. Police seized two two-wheelers, three mobile phones and six knives used in the attack. All the seven offenders including the juvenile were arrested on Thursday. They were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody on Friday.
Ali, a real estate dealer cum AIMIM’s Vattepally area in charge, was stabbed by a group of accused near Almas Hotel in Vattepally on the night of August 30. He was declared dead at a hospital in Shalibanda at around 10.30 pm.
“Investigation revealed that the main accused, Mirza Mohsin Baig, suspected the deceased of performing black magic that caused his mother’s prolonged illness and also his uncle’s death,” Rajendranagar DCP S Srinivas said.
