Hyderabad: Granules India Ltd has drawn up plans to invest about ₹2,000 crore over the next three to four years as part of a broader strategy to build a more differentiated and higher-margin pharmaceuticals business focused on differentiated products, peptide CDMO, oncology and wider global market access.

The organic capital expenditure will be directed toward complex generics, oncology, peptide contract development and manufacturing, US operations, manufacturing capacity, R&D infrastructure, digitalisation, AI-led manufacturing excellence and quality systems, Granules CFO Mukesh Surana said. Pointing out that Granules had returned to growth in FY26 after nearly three years of flat performance, Granules India chairman and managing director Krishna Prasad Chigurupati said the company had returned to growth in FY26 after nearly three years of flat performance and was now entering a new growth cycle.

Granules India executive director Priyanka Chigurupati said the company’s strategy is shifting from volume-led generics to more selective, higher-value products with complex generics already growing from 1% of revenue in FY20 to 33% in FY26, accounting for about 45–50% of finished dosage revenue in FY26. It has filed two sole first-to-file ANDAs — generic Lumryz and generic Dyanavel — with a combined US market size of more than $350 million and potential 180-day exclusivity. In controlled substances, Granules said it is now the third-largest US manufacturer by value, up from eighth in July 2025.

Chigurupati said the company’s established vertically integrated business will remain the cash-generating base for expansion, while future growth will be driven by four engines: controlled substances, complex generics and early-market opportunities, oncology, and peptide CDMO. He said this at an investor webinar, the transcript of which was submitted to the stock exchanges. She said the company is also sharpening its first-to-file pipeline.

The company plans to build on its ADHD franchise and expand into pain management, supported by its US manufacturing base and DEA quota track record.
