Hyderabad: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) on Wednesday suspended the FSSAI licences of four dark stores and issued show-cause notices to five others and improvement notices to three following inspections that uncovered multiple food safety violations across Hyderabad’s Core Urban Region (CURE).
Ten enforcement teams comprising food safety officers and police personnel inspected 16 dark stores operated by Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart, Zepto and Dropx Logistics. The teams also collected 15 food samples on suspicion of adulteration. Officials found unhygienic premises, dusty and rusted racks, cobwebs, expired and damaged food items, improper storage and handling, fungal-infested vegetables, cockroach and pest infestations, labelling violations and inadequate cold-room temperature maintenance.
