The orders were issued by HMWSSB managing director Ashok Reddy after the board identified instances of drinking water spilling onto roads during transportation. Some tankers were reportedly being filled beyond their capacity, while others lacked lids or had improperly secured covers, resulting in water spilling onto roads. Under the new guidelines, tankers with leaking containers, missing lids or improperly secured covers will not be allowed to fill water at HMWSSB filling stations until the defects are rectified. Officials have also been instructed to ensure that tankers are not filled beyond their capacity. Managers and in-charges of all filling stations have been directed to inspect tankers for leaks and check the condition of their lids before allowing them to fill water. Any vehicle found to have defects must be denied access to water until the necessary repairs are completed. Download the TOI App.
