Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Thursday urged the chief electoral officer (CEO) to tighten document verification during special intensive revision (SIR) hearings, alleging that AI-generated and digitally altered documents are being submitted in some “No Mapping” and “Anomaly” cases, particularly within Greater Hyderabad limits.
The party also sought public advisories warning that submission of forged or AI-generated documents to election officials could attract penal provisions under applicable criminal law and the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
In the first complaint, Rajesh Kumar said field-level reports received by the party indicated that some electors appearing for hearings were submitting allegedly counterfeit identity, address, study and other supporting documents created or modified using artificial intelligence and digital editing tools. ‘Check originals before accepting uploads’ The TPCC said rapid scrutiny based on digital uploads or photographs could make manipulated documents difficult to detect. Electors uploading documents online should also be required to produce originals at designated hearing centres, it said. Put flagged voter lists, hearing schedules online In a separate representation, the TPCC sought online publication of constituency-wise, part-wise and polling station-wise “No Mapping” and “Anomaly” lists, saying electors unaware of their flagged status could miss hearings.
It warned that accepting such records without verification could result in ineligible entries being retained or included in the final electoral rolls. It sought directions to EROs and AEROs to physically inspect original documents before accepting or scanning them into the BLO App. Citing transparency practices followed by the Puducherry CEO, it sought publication of hearing dates, timings and venues, regular updates on notices served and cases resolved, and newspaper publicity specifying documents electors must produce.
TPCC Election Commission coordination committee chairman P Rajesh Kumar submitted two representations to CEO C Sudharshan Reddy on Thursday.
