Hyderabad : With the Supreme Court upholding his disqualification as MLA , former Khairatabad legislator Danam Nagender on Thursday said he respected the verdict and would now take his political battle to the people.

Danam said he had pursued all available legal remedies out of respect for the judicial process and had made every effort permitted under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution. That is why I made all legally permissible efforts,” he said. Expressing confidence in the electorate, Danam said he shared a long-standing bond with the people of Khairatabad and had always stood by them through their joys and hardships. I have complete confidence that blessings of Khairatabad people will be with me,” he said.
“I had expected the court verdict to come this way. However, I believed I would get some legal relief under the provisions of the 10th Schedule or anti-defection law. “I will go to the people’s court and seek their blessings. Danam was elected to the assembly from Khairatabad on a BRS ticket but later joined the Congress and contested the Lok Sabha elections as the party’s candidate. The Telangana high court disqualified him as an MLA under the anti-defection law. Challenging the order, Danam approached the Supreme Court, which dismissed his petition and upheld the high court’s decision. Download the TOI App.
