CISCE has planned on conducting a national study with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), using student performance data on CISCE SHINE 2026 and PISA for Schools
In a letter, CISCE chief executive and secretary Joseph Emmanuel said the study aimed to build a robust system-level evidence base using a nationally representative sample of CISCE schools participating in both programmes. He said PISA for Schools would provide internationally benchmarked insights to help build better educational systems aligned with learner outcomes, school contexts and overall growth across CISCE schools.
Kolkata: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has urged all affiliated schools to participate in the SHINE, 2026 student performance assessment tests to help develop an improved teaching-learning system. CISCE has planned on conducting a national study with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), using student performance data on CISCE SHINE 2026 and PISA for Schools. Student Holistic Insight and Nurturing Evaluation (SHINE) will be held between Nov 15 and Dec 7 which is a computer based test to check competency level of the children who are in class 4, 6 and 9 based on their understanding of English, mathematics and science. PISA for Schools will be conducted in Nov 2026 for 15 to 16-year-old students from selected schools to measure learning in mathematics, science, and reading.
CISCE will choose schools based on random sampling for the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) assessment. So, following the letter issued by the council explained schools why these two assessments are important for them. The shortlisted schools will receive an opportunity to better understand their teaching-learning practices and contribute to a national-level study benefiting all affiliated schools.
