Modern High students at an inter-school event in Kolkata

Kolkata : Thirty-nine inter-school competitions, nine overall distinctions and over 150 prizes—Modern High School’s inter-school circuit in 2026 has been defined by diversity, consistency, effort and an ever-growing sense of curiosity. July saw participation in 22 inter-school competitions and events, including Bosco Fest, Xuberance, Exypnos, ShowCASE, PsyQuest, Technovation, Quantum Qubit and several ASISC competitions. Students progressed through multiple stages of competitions, represented the school at MUNs and secured first place in 10 zonal ASISC events.

Beginning in April with Youthopia and X-Celsior, the calendar grew steadily through May and June, with students participating even during their summer vacation. August continued with Melisma, Morpheus, BoscoMUN, SIS MUN and the second stage of the Frank Anthony Inter-School Debate Competition. Modern High School secured nine overall distinctions: Best School at Youthopia, for the third consecutive year, X-Negotium, Interface, Bosco Fest and Xuberance; Best Senior School at ShowCASE; First Runners-Up at PsyQuest; and Second Runners-Up at Kridotsav and Melisma. On stage, students brought stories, emotions and ideas to life through dance, music, theatre and fashion. From visual and fashion-forward narratives to energetic choreography, spontaneous drama and creative musical curation, each performance demanded talent, creativity, coordination and hours of rehearsal. Spearheaded by the president of the STEAM Club, the school also ventured more deeply into technology fests. Students entered robotics, cryptography, hackathons and coding with little prior experience, quickly establishing themselves as strong contenders through adaptability, problem-solving and technical acumen. The aspiring entrepreneurs similarly demonstrated strategic thinking and confidence across business competitions, navigating innovative real-estate, stock-market and auction-based events while developing negotiation and pitching skills. The year’s achievements extended beyond individual victories. Modern High School also hosted the Albert Barrow Memorial All India Inter-School Creative Writing Competition, strengthening its role within the inter-school community. At the heart of this journey was the work of the inter-school head, the co-curricular activities department and the student council, whose year-round coordination kept a demanding calendar moving across teams, disciplines and venues.
