Kolkata: The state govt has provided Rs 5 lakh and a forest volunteer job to the family of a woman who died following a fox bite in Purulia last year, marking the first time the state has offered compensation for such a death. On Sept 24, 2025, Pramila Rajak, a resident of Ichag in Jhalda forest, died after being bitten by a fox. The position carries a monthly remuneration of Rs 12,000.
