Because the polls this time did not see any intimidation or murder, the whole of Bengal is happy.
Kolkata: Amid protests across multiple states demanding the removal of Gyanesh Kumar as chief election commissioner, Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya said Kumar should be awarded Padma Bhushan , India’s third-highest civilian honour, for the way Election Commission organised the assembly polls in Bengal. He credited Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls for helping curb infiltration and said CEC was “instrumental in cleansing the electoral roll. This was no mean achievement,” he said. “People of Bengal wanted a free and fair election and he (the CEC) ensured that,” he said.
“Gyanesh Kumar should at least get the Padma Bhushan. People were allowed to vote. Bengal has never seen such an election. “Names of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators were removed.
The entire state is blessing him (Kumar),” Bhattacharya said on Friday. Bhattacharya had said CEC Kumar had ensured dead and fictitious voters were removed from the rolls While speaking to the media on Thursday.
On Friday, Bhattacharya criticised Rahul Gandhi and said, “Congress does not pay any heed to Rahul Gandhi.”
